Boiler Servicing Godstone, Readings and Records
Heating Services ltd, a heating and plumbing company based in Oxted, Surrey, covers boiler servicing in Godstone and other towns across London, Surrey and Kent. A proper boiler service measures combustion with a flue gas analyser and checks the burner, seals, flue and safety devices, with a written record left.
What gets checked at a boiler service in Godstone?
It should be an inspection with numbers, not a look and a signature. The flue gases are analysed and the combustion figures written down. Gas pressure, the burner, the heat exchanger, the seals, the safety devices and the flue are all checked.
Heating Services ltd services boilers with Gas Safe registered engineers and leaves a written service record. Faults found are priced separately, and nothing extra is charged without asking first.
What's the average lifespan of a boiler?
Most modern gas boilers last somewhere around 10 to 15 years, and annual servicing is the biggest single factor in reaching the top of that range. Sludge in the system water shortens it more than anything else, which is why a magnetic filter is worth having.
What is an unvented hot water cylinder?
It is a sealed cylinder supplied directly by the mains, so hot water arrives at mains pressure. There is no need for a shower pump, and two bathrooms can draw at the same time. The loft tank goes, which frees up the roof space.
Because it is pressurised, fitting and servicing are regulated. The engineers at Heating Services ltd hold the relevant unvented qualification and provide the paperwork. The first step is testing the mains, because the cylinder depends on it.
Is a 12 year old boiler considered old?
It is getting on, but it is not necessarily finished. A 12 year old boiler that has been serviced every year can have useful life left. The warning signs are rising repair bills, parts becoming hard to find, and repeated faults.
What does Gas Safe registration mean for you?
Heating Services ltd has its Heating Services ltd Edenbridge gas work carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, and the company is a Checkatrade member. It has worked out of Oxted since 2008.
By law, paid work on a gas boiler, hob or fire needs a Gas Safe registered engineer. Ask for the engineer's card and check the licence number with the register. It shows the categories of gas work that person is qualified to carry out.
